With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to turn your attention to small business marketing tips for end-of-year success. The end of the year is a great time to expand your customer base and boost your sales, especially as people are already in a ‘Christmas buying mindset’.

Make the most of the festive season with the following small business marketing tips!

Embrace Holiday Content

Get in on the holiday spirit by putting a festive spin on your social media, blog, or website. Share some of your favourite Christmas recipes (if you work in hospitality, for example), put together a blog gift guide using your own products, or anything else you can think of. Not only is this type of content extremely share-worthy, but it’s also a great way to interact with your customers on a more ‘human’ level.

Run a Holiday Themed Promotion

We’ve all heard of the 12 Days of Christmas, but have you ever used this theme as a promotion in your small business? Every day, you can offer something new to your audience, whether it’s a discount on a category of items, a free gift with sales over a certain amount, or a combination of every type of promotion you can think of. Keep it new and exciting and you’re sure to boost your holiday sales.

Host a Festive Event

What event could you run within your store to expand your customer base and boost sales? This will largely depend on what industry your business belongs to, but if in doubt, a festive gathering featuring canapes, drinks, and Christmas carols should be a hit among your customers. Be sure to spread the word about your event via social media and in-store, as well as to capture each attendant’s email address for future marketing purposes.

Give Away Free Gifts

If you have items such as pens, notepads, or drink bottles (for example) with your company’s name and website on them, then the holiday period is the perfect time to distribute them to your customers. Think about how, why and when you’ll hand out the merchandise and be sure to spread the word.

Spread Holiday Cheer Through Email

If you don’t have email marketing in place, now is the perfect time to start. Begin collecting your  customers’ email addresses and schedule a warm, holiday-themed email to send at Christmas time. In your email, you can wish them all the best for the festive season and thank them for being a customer. If you’re feeling particularly generous, why not include a gift card or discount code?

Decorate Your Shop

There’s no doubt that lavish Christmas decorations are one way to lure customers into your store. When you transform your shop for the holiday season, it’s also a great way to communicate that people can not only do their Christmas shopping within, but also that you may have holiday-related promotions to celebrate this special time of year.
